Is GTA 6 Releasing in 2024?
Tez2, a well-known Rockstar authority, has indicated on the GTA Forums that there is a strong possibility of GTA 6 being released this year, with a provisional launch date set for 2024.
Based on my personal investigations that began in June 2021, this appears to be accurate. My informants have mentioned that Grand Theft Auto 6 has been targeting a 2024 release for quite some time. However, conjecture and historical patterns in the unveiling and release of games such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 imply that the launch might be postponed to 2025.
It remains uncertain when the announcement will be made, but Rockstar Games typically prefers to make significant reveals independently. Therefore, it’s unlikely that the game will be announced at E3. Instead, a reveal trailer is anticipated in Q4 2023, aligning with previous unveilings.
My sources suggest that a primary reason for the seemingly protracted “delay” is that GTA 6 will be released exclusively on current-generation consoles. The tentative 2024 release date, planned as early as 2021, aimed to ensure a sizable console market for GTA 6’s launch.
In late 2022, Rockstar Games experienced a security breach, leading to the online leak of over 70 GTA 6 gameplay videos. During a subsequent earnings call, Take-Two Interactive reassured investors that, despite the unfortunate leak, development remained unaffected.
“It’s reassuring that no material assets were taken. While the leak won’t affect development, it’s still very disappointing and highlights the need for increased cybersecurity measures,” a statement read.
