After 14 Years, GTA 6 Reintroduces the Chainsaw
A recent revelation from a Grand Theft Auto VI insider suggests that the beloved chainsaw may make a comeback as a melee weapon in Rockstar’s upcoming installment.
While Rockstar Games remains tight-lipped about Grand Theft Auto VI, believed to still be in the works and not set for a release this year, there’s much anticipation. Given the speculated vastness of the game’s open-world, rumored to be among the largest ever designed, this silence has been felt heavily.
This lack of official updates has left many ardent fans anxious, some even jesting that they might not live long enough to see the game’s launch. Hence, even the slightest leaks or speculations are now treated as gold by the community.
A recent incident involved a Rockstar India developer who, in a now-removed LinkedIn post, claimed to have contributed to several game assets. These mentioned assets like “interior prop labels”, highlighting items like the fire extinguisher, electric board, boat motor, car engine, and notably, the chainsaw. Fans of earlier GTA editions like GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City will recognize the chainsaw as a favored weapon, hinting at its possible return in GTA VI.
While this hasn’t received Rockstar’s stamp of approval yet, it aligns well with other circulating whispers about the game, including the possibility of revisiting iconic places like Vice City. All signs point to GTA VI taking the best from its predecessors while introducing novel features and engaging activities.
Additionally, there’s buzz not just about GTA VI but also a potential remake of Grand Theft Auto IV, hinted by Rockstar’s parent firm, Take-Two Interactive.
Grand Theft Auto VI may still be a distant dream, but upon its eventual launch, it’s set to be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
